The Greek Olympics. The first Olympics were in Greece 3000 years ago. The Olympics started in Olympia around 770 BC. In those times only the men were allowed to attend to the games which were: Racing, Boxing, Discus Throwing, Chariot Racing, Horse Racing and Fencing. The winners were rewarded with an olive leaf wreath. And……
Did you Know? A lady went into the men’s Ancient Greek Olympics without anyone knowing! But when the people found out, they were going to murder her. But on the other hand when her father found out, they backed out of it (because the father was a famous wrestler and they would get a black eye). You see ladies weren't allowed to go to the Olympics, because it was an insult to the Gods.
The Modern Olympics The Modern Olympics were first held in Spring 1896, known as ‘THE GAMES OF THE I OLYMPIAD’ celebrated in Athens (Greece). The planning of the game began in 1894. The site of the games where chosen six years in advance.
2008 Olympics The 2008 Olympics where held in Beijing. The Chinese came first this year, but hopefully we will come first in the 2012 Olympics. As well as the normal Olympics there's the Para Olympics, which is when you’re disabled you have your own Olympics for disabled people.
