HISTORY • The Jewish community in the United States is made up mostly of Ashkenazi Jews who originally came from Central and Eastern Europe. • There are also Sephardi Jews and Mizrahi Jews in America. • The first Jews came to America in 1584
US JEWISH FACTS • There are 6,588,065 Jews in America. • America has the second largest Jewish community in the world after Israel.
Interesting facts • Jews have made large contributions to American culture. • There have been many Jewish American actors, songwriters, painters and authors. Sportsmen and businessmen. • Many of the early Hollywood pioneers were Jewish.
INTERESTING FACTS • Since 1845, a total of 34 Jews have served in the Senate • 37% of American Nobel Prize winners have been Jewish
